An independent project that turns a friendship into a four-letter code, and two codes into one of 16 pair types.
Who makes this
KnowUsWell is built and run by one independent developer. There is no company behind it, no investors, and no team — which is worth saying plainly, because a quiz about relationships should be upfront about who is asking the questions. Everything here is written by hand rather than generated in bulk.
How the quiz is scored
There are 16 questions and 4 binary axes. Each question loads onto exactly one axis, and each axis has an equal number of positively and negatively worded questions — so agreeing with everything does not push you toward one side. That is a real problem in casual quizzes (acquiescence bias), and balancing the wording is the cheapest honest fix.
Your four answers-per-axis produce a four-letter code, one of 16. Comparing two codes axis by axis — same or opposite — produces the pair type. Matching is not scored as better: aligned axes feel effortless, opposite axes are where two people cover each other's blind spots.
What this is not
This is not a psychological instrument, and it has not been validated against one. Nobody here is a clinician. The toxic friendship and narcissist pages deliberately stop short of diagnosis for the same reason — a checklist can help you describe a pattern accurately, which is more useful than a label you are not qualified to apply. If something in your life is affecting your health, that belongs with a professional rather than a quiz.
How it handles your data
Answers never reach a server. They are encoded into the part of the link after the
#, which browsers do not transmit. No account is required to take the
quiz or share a result, and there is no analytics profile or advertising tracker
anywhere on this site. An optional account exists for one reason only: finding a
purchase again on another device.
The one paid feature — an illustrated card made from your own photo — is the only part that uploads anything. The photo travels to the image model because a model cannot draw you without seeing you, exists in memory for that one request, and is then discarded. If you send an invite so a friend can join the card, one copy is encrypted in your browser and held for 24 hours; the key lives only in the link you send, so we cannot read it.
