Acceptable use policy

Last updated 13 August 2026

This applies to the one paid feature — the illustrated card made from a photo. The quiz itself takes no uploads and has nothing to police. The rules below are short because there are only a few, and they are the ones that matter.

Upload a photo of yourself, and nobody else

You may upload a photograph of yourself. When your friend joins from your invite link, they upload a photograph of themselves. That is the whole permitted set. Do not upload a photo of anyone who has not chosen to be here — not a celebrity, not a colleague, not an ex, not someone from the internet. You confirm this with a checkbox before every generation, and that confirmation is a condition of use, not a formality.

Everyone in an uploaded photograph must be 18 or older. Photographs of minors are not permitted under any circumstance, including your own childhood photographs.

What the feature will not make

Sexual or suggestive imagery. Nudity. Images designed to look like real photographs of real people doing things they did not do — what is usually called a deepfake. Images that harass, demean, or sexualise anyone. Images that imply a real person endorses something. Content depicting violence, self-harm, or illegal acts. Anything using a photograph obtained without the subject's knowledge.

The illustrated styles are deliberately stylised — a figurine, a hand-painted poster, a gouache illustration — and none of them aim at photorealism. That is a product decision as much as a safety one: a card that looked like a real photograph would be a different and more dangerous product.

How this is enforced

The instructions sent to the image model are assembled entirely on our servers from a fixed set of scene and style templates that we wrote — there is no free- text field anywhere in the product, so nothing you type can reach the image model. The model provider additionally runs its own content-safety checks and refuses requests that violate its policies. A refused attempt is not meant to cost you a generation: the count is restored automatically, and in the rare case that restoring fails you will see an error telling you exactly that — email support and we will put it back by hand.

We do not review your photographs, because we cannot: they exist only in memory for the length of one generation, and the copy held for pairing is encrypted with a key we do not have. Enforcement therefore rests on the screening above, on your confirmation, and on reports.

If you see something wrong

Email support@knowuswell.com. Tell us what you saw and, if you have it, the link it came from. We remove access and refuse further generations for accounts that break these rules, and we cooperate with lawful requests. There is no appeal process worth writing about for a $1.99 product — we will simply refund you and stop.

Consequences

Breaking these rules ends your access to the paid feature. Remaining generations are forfeited without refund where the breach is deliberate, and refunded where it is not. Serious cases — anything involving a minor, or content made to harm a real person — are reported to the appropriate authorities.

Contact

Everything above — questions, refunds, deletion requests — goes to support@knowuswell.com. We reply within two business days.
